SUMMARY:Richard Delingpole – Painter & Illustrator
DESCRIPTION:As a painter and re-enactor Richard combines these two aspects of his life in a series of paintings started in 2011: The Front to Back series. This series\, now running to over 40 paintings\, depicts the front and back of different military figures through history. Most are soldiers\, but some other roles\, such as nurses\, are also featured. \nIf you’re telling the story of a soldier visually and don’t show the back view you’re missing out on what that soldier carried on his back. The paintings are illustrations of military uniforms but also a record of friends I have made in this hobby over the years\, as each person depicted is a re-enactor.\nUnfortunately I am only able to be present on the 22nd and 29th but the exhibition will be open as advertised in the guide. \nThis exhibition is part of the Worcestershire Open Studios Art Week. For more information about Susan’s exhibition please click here.  \nA full list of exhibitors at The Open Studios can be found below: \nWOS26-guide

SUMMARY:David Birtwhistle – Painter
DESCRIPTION:After a first one man exhibition in Greenwich in 1970 David continued to exhibit his work during his days as a student and as an architect in a small Worcester practice. Then\, following a most encouraging exhibition in Worcester City Art Gallery\, David thought that he might consider selling his watercolours for a living. \nHistoric buildings together with their settings\, are his natural choice of subjects. Each image is an exploration\, a response to architectural history\, recording his own view of the continuing life of interesting and beautiful places\, their vitality and decay. \nAlthough many of  subjects might be well known\, David tries to find new angles and novel aspects even of familiar places. \nThis exhibition is part of the Worcestershire Open Studios Art Week. For more information about David’s exhibition please click here.  \nA full list of exhibitors at The Open Studios can be found below: \nWOS26-guide

SUMMARY:Martina Munn – Artist
DESCRIPTION:Martina is delighted to show her art work with some very talented fellow Worcestershire artists at the amazing Henry Sandon Hall\, which is nestled between the famous Worcestershire Porcelain museum and the lovely “Good Roots” cafe. An ideal location to show you an array of art Martina has been working on since she last showed her work at Worcestershire Open Studios. \nMartina has a number of paintings which she created as a series\, which will sit nicely side by side and some stand alone pieces as well. She works mainly in acrylic and paint either on board or canvas. Martina enjoys acrylics due it’s versatility and the fact it dries rather quickly. She says “this suits her style of painting\, which is naive and painterly.” Martina tends to depict every day scenes\, objects or people in a humorous way and enjoy experimenting with colour combinations\, textures and patterns. She uses bold outlines\, which at times give the artwork a somewhat cartoonish style. Martina is a self taught artist and although she has not painted on a regular basis for very long\, she has already sold many of my artworks in various galleries and through Instagram. \nMartina’s main influences come through observations\, a love of fashion\, interiors\, antiques\, people\, animals\, photography\, film and folk art. They all inspire her a great deal and will reflect in her work. Where she is able Martina recycles good quality wooden frames and paints them in beautiful chalk paints and wax such as Annie Sloan\, to compliment the art work. If the frame is an original vintage or antique\, she often does very little to it and lets it speak for itself. This is Martina’s way of supporting to prevent further landfill and the transformation gives her great joy. Martina says “It would be delightful to see as many people and possibly their dogs (which are welcome too) at Henry Sandon Hall during Worcestershire Open Studios.” \nThis exhibition is part of the Worcestershire Open Studios Art Week. For more information about Martina’s exhibition please click here.  \nA full list of exhibitors at The Open Studios can be found below: \nWOS26-guide

SUMMARY:Susan Edwards – Contemporary Fine Art Painter
DESCRIPTION:Susan is a contemporary colourist painter working in oils on linen canvas\, and her paintings are immediately recognisable for multi layers of different kinds of vigorous mark making\, using brushes\, palette knives and textures\, with contrasting impasto and translucent paint techniques working together. \nShe interprets the subject intuitively\, translating form through her inherent colour language and letting the painting direct the next step as it progresses.\nThe seascapes and landscapes are usually begun on the spot\, at favourite locations include the Cornish Coast\, the Malvern Hills\, Yorkshire Dales\, and Snowdonia. Similarly\, still life subjects and figure studies are generally begun from life.\nRecent more semi abstract work is evolving in the studio from paintings done en plein air\, and from photographs. \nSusan was traditionally trained at Leeds College of Art and\, over the last decade\, Anthony Eyton RA has been advising her both on her MA and developing new work.\nSusan has exhibited works with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters\, The New English Art Club\, The New Bath Art Club\, Friends of The Royal West of England Academy in Bristol and Women in Art at The Mall Galleries London in recent years and her paintings and portraits have been included in International private collections. \nThis exhibition is part of the Worcestershire Open Studios Art Week. SUMMARY:Jain McKay – Painter & Printmaker
DESCRIPTION:Jain’s work is primarily figurative\, rooted in a contemporary visual language that blends painting with elements of printmaking. She describes that she is drawn to the human form as a way of exploring ideas that feel both deeply personal and widely shared – life\, love\, philosophy\, and the process of growth and change. \nFaces\, in particular\, hold a central place in her practice. Jain sees them as more than likenesses; they are portals into inner worlds\, capable of expressing complex emotional and psychological states. Through gesture\, texture\, and layered mark-making\, she aims to suggest something beyond the surface – an invitation to reflect\, question\, and connect. \nThe combination of painting and printmaking allows her to experiment with structure and spontaneity. Jain often builds up surfaces in layers\, embracing imperfections and unexpected outcomes as part of the process. This interplay mirrors the themes she explore: the fluid\, evolving nature of identity and experience. \nUltimately\, her work is about connection – between image and viewer\, thought and feeling\, the seen and the unseen. Each piece is an attempt to capture a moment of introspection\, a fragment of narrative\, or a quiet emotional truth. \nJain is available for commissions and welcomes opportunities to create work that resonates on a personal level. \nThis exhibition is part of the Worcestershire Open Studios Art Week. For more information about Jain’s exhibition please click here.  \nA full list of exhibitors at The Open Studios can be found below: \nWOS26-guide
