Jain McKay – Painter & Printmaker

August 31 @ 10:30 am4:00 pm

Jain’s work is primarily figurative, rooted in a contemporary visual language that blends painting with elements of printmaking. She describes that she is drawn to the human form as a way of exploring ideas that feel both deeply personal and widely shared – life, love, philosophy, and the process of growth and change.

Faces, in particular, hold a central place in her practice. Jain sees them as more than likenesses; they are portals into inner worlds, capable of expressing complex emotional and psychological states. Through gesture, texture, and layered mark-making, she aims to suggest something beyond the surface – an invitation to reflect, question, and connect.

The combination of painting and printmaking allows her to experiment with structure and spontaneity. Jain often builds up surfaces in layers, embracing imperfections and unexpected outcomes as part of the process. This interplay mirrors the themes she explore: the fluid, evolving nature of identity and experience.

Ultimately, her work is about connection – between image and viewer, thought and feeling, the seen and the unseen. Each piece is an attempt to capture a moment of introspection, a fragment of narrative, or a quiet emotional truth.

Jain is available for commissions and welcomes opportunities to create work that resonates on a personal level.
